Autonomous drone operations are now a reality. We’ve unboxed the DJI Dock 3 — the future of continuous unmanned aerial systems — on camera.”
As Nigeria’s first BVLOS-certified drone operator and an authorised DJI Enterprise reseller, ARCO Worldwide is proud to introduce the DJI Dock 3 to the Nigerian and African market. This isn’t just another product launch. The DJI Dock 3 represents a fundamental shift in how industries can deploy drones continuously, remotely, and without a pilot on-site.
What Is the DJI Dock 3?
The DJI Dock 3 autonomously docks drones for 24/7 unmanned operations. It works with DJI’s high-performance Matrice 4D and Matrice 4TD drones aircraft that inherit the powerful camera systems of the Matrice 4 Series, while adding IP-rated weather protection, longer flight endurance, and onboard relay capabilities.
Together, the Dock 3 and M4D series create a seamless remote operations platform. Drones launch, fly missions, return, and recharge — all without an operator on-site.
What’s Inside the Box
In our full unboxing video, we walk through every component that ships with the DJI Dock 3:
- The DJI Dock 3 main unit: the centrepiece of the autonomous operations system
- Battery and charging system: engineered for speed and efficiency
- Remote identification module: for regulatory compliance during operations
- RTK reference station components: ensuring centimetre-level positioning accuracy
- Installation hardware and accessories: everything needed to get operational quickly
Five Reasons the DJI Dock 3 Is a Game-Changer
1. Unmatched Weather Resistance
Because operations in Nigeria and across Africa mean dealing with heat, humidity, dust, and rain. The Dock 3 handles it. With an IP56-rated dock and an IP55-rated aircraft, the system keeps working where lesser equipment fails.. It supports an operating temperature range of -30°C to 50°C. As a result making it equally viable from the Sahel to the Niger Delta. Installing the D-RTK 3 Relay at elevated locations can also boost signal reliability…at elevated locations when the terrain demands it.
2. Go Mobile with Vehicle-Mounted Deployment
This is where the Dock 3 truly breaks new ground. For the first time in DJI’s dock lineup, DJI optimised the hardware for mobile, vehicle-mounted deployment.
Using the DJI Dock 3 Vehicle-Mounted Gimbal Mount, organisations can charge drones and transfer data in transit enabling continuous, multi-site mission coverage without a fixed base.
For emergency response, long-distance pipeline inspection, or border security operations across Nigeria’s vast and varied terrain, this capability is transformational.
3. Longer Flights. Faster Charging.
Every minute of operation delivers efficiency. The Dock 3 offers 10 more minutes of effective operating time compared to its predecessor, the Dock 2, DJI cut charging time from 15% to 95%, it now takes just 27 minutes, down from 32. Once launched, drones are airborne within 10 seconds, with real-time data transmission throughout the flight.
4. Smarter Obstacle Avoidance
The optional Obstacle Sensing Module lets the M4D detect and avoid wires as thin as 12mm at speeds up to 15 m/s. If obstacle avoidance fails during an automatic mission, DJI covers repair costs at no charge (subject to conditions).
5. Intelligent Automation with DJI FlightHub 2
The Dock 3 is powered by DJI FlightHub 2, a cloud-based fleet management platform that brings smart detection directly into your operational workflow. Automatic routes can be configured to detect objects like vehicles, vessels, or infrared temperature anomalies and instantly notify operators when something requires attention.
The result was a streamlined flight → detection → notification → action cycle that reduces manual monitoring and speeds up response.
FlightHub 2 adds on-premises deployment in H2 2025, with EU-based AWS servers for European operations.
This expanded integration gives enterprise clients full data sovereignty and operational flexibility.
Choosing the Right Drone for Your Operation
Not every mission calls for the same aircraft. Here’s how the DJI lineup compares:
Drone Best For Key Differentiators Matrice 4D / 4TD Dock-based or standalone enterprise ops IP rating, 9 extra minutes of flight, 240W fast charging, obstacle sensing radar Matrice 4T / 4E Budget-conscious or portable deployments Lower price, foldable design, no IP rating Matrice 30T Legacy operations Most use cases are now better served by the M4TD
After-Sales Support You Can Count On
In addition, DJI has significantly upgraded the after-sales value for the Matrice 4D series. In covered regions, the M4D and M4TD include first year of DJI Care Enterprise Plus — free, automatic upon registration, and with no binding required. In non-covered regions, buyers receive an additional one-year extended warranty on top of the standard warranty.
What This Means for Nigeria and Africa
ARCO Worldwide exists to bring enterprise-grade drone capability to every sector across Nigeria and the continent. The DJI Dock 3 is the most powerful tool we’ve added to that mission yet. Whether you’re in oil and gas, utilities, agriculture, logistics, security, or emergency response. Autonomous drone operations powered by the DJI Dock 3 can reduce costs, increase coverage, and deliver data faster than any traditional approach.
