DJI Mavic 4 Pro in Nigeria: What It Changes for Production

Aerial cinematography has always come with a fixed limitation. The camera points forward and down, and anything above the aircraft stays out of frame.

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro removes that constraint. For production teams in Nigeria, that changes which shots are possible rather than simply how good they look.

The gimbal is the real headline

Most platform upgrades improve resolution. This one changes geometry.

The Infinity Gimbal rotates fully, so the camera can look upward as well as down. It also rotates into a true vertical orientation, which matters increasingly when a large share of finished content ends up on phones.

Previously, vertical delivery meant cropping a horizontal frame and losing resolution. Now the sensor shoots vertically at full quality. Consequently, a single flight can deliver both horizontal and vertical masters.

Three cameras, one aircraft

The Mavic 4 Pro carries a Hasselblad main camera on a Four Thirds sensor, supported by medium and long telephoto cameras.

That combination replaces lens changes with camera changes. Wide establishing shots, compressed telephoto perspectives and tight detail all come from the same airframe on the same flight.

For production scheduling, this matters more than it sounds. Fewer flights mean fewer battery cycles, less repositioning and shorter shoot days.

Flight time and transmission

Endurance has improved substantially, with flight times reaching roughly 51 minutes under favourable conditions.

Transmission has improved alongside it. The updated O4+ system extends range considerably, which helps on larger locations and in environments with interference.

Treat both figures as best-case numbers. Wind, temperature and payload behaviour all reduce them, and Nigerian conditions test aircraft harder than laboratory testing does.

Where it fits, and where it does not

The Mavic 4 Pro is a production and content platform. It is not an industrial inspection aircraft.

For film, broadcast, advertising, events, real estate and brand content, it offers more capability than most productions in Nigeria currently use. Portability strengthens that case, since a single operator can reach locations a larger platform cannot.

Industrial work remains different. Thermal inspection, LiDAR survey and corridor monitoring need the Matrice 4T, the Matrice 350 RTK with Zenmuse payloads, or DJI Dock 3 with the Matrice 4TD. Those platforms exist for a different job entirely.

Choosing between them is straightforward. Ask whether you are producing images for an audience or data for an engineer.

The part most buyers overlook

Owning this aircraft does not authorise you to fly it commercially.

Commercial aerial filming in Nigeria falls under NCAA regulation. Paid productions require certification, approvals and, in many locations, airspace coordination. Flying a client shoot without that exposes the production, not only the pilot.

Insurance follows the same logic. Most serious productions now ask who is flying, under what authorisation, and with what cover.

ARCO Worldwide holds NCAA authorisation for commercial aerial filming operations nationwide. Our pilots train through ARCO Aviation Academy, Nigeria’s first NCAA-licensed drone training institution.

Buy it, or book the crew

Two routes make sense depending on how often you shoot.

Production houses shooting regularly benefit from owning. We advise on configuration, supply the platform and support it afterwards, as part of a catalogue running past 35 products.

Occasional shoots rarely justify ownership. In that case, we fly the mission for you, with licensed pilots, approvals handled and footage delivered ready for post.

Better shots still need better planning

A rotating gimbal does not compose a shot. Neither does a hundred megapixels.

What the DJI Mavic 4 Pro provides is range: more angles, more framing options and fewer compromises between delivery formats. The craft decisions remain yours.
